Insanity Fit Test – Day 36 – Had To Dig MUCH Deeper!

Alright alright!  Todays workout was pretty much the closest thing to dying that I have experienced in quite awhile… maybe since running the stairs during high school basketball practice – thanks for the dreaded memory Coach!

Anyway, today was the Insanity Fit Test – Day 36.

My 3rd time taking the test and if you know one thing about me it’s that I am a competitor.  I expect to win at everything I do and quite frankly, I will do everything within my power to get the job done.

Well, the Fit Test started with Switch Kicks.  Probably the easiest of all the exercises, but still my least favorite because my hip flexors & hamstrings simply don’t like them.  My number to beat from the last test was 58 kicks on each leg.  Well, I squeaked out 60 kicks on each leg and could tell that it was going to be a fight to beat my numbers today.

Next on the agenda was Power Jacks.  The number to beat was 52 and I think I did a pretty darn good job of getting up to 57 jacks even if my heart rate was up to 177 beats per minute and feeling like it was going to burst out of my chest and drag the lungs with it.

Move onto Power Knees.  A very simple move which seems almost like a “filler exercise” for the first 20-30 seconds, then it turns into a mind numbing race against the clock.  I managed to crank my number from 76 up to 90 on the nose!

Power Jump?  Really, my quads are still pumped full of blood from the jacks and now you want me to jump again?  Alright, let’s attack this one with a plan.  I decided to get my first 20 out of the way non stop and then start working in 5 jump intervals.  Catching my breath every 5 jumps seemed to help as I took my number from 30 last time up to 38 today.

Now they are just playing with me moving from power jumps right into Globe Jumps.  Not only am I still dealing with my heart rate being off the charts, my quads are still burning, now you are going to throw the dizziness of jumping right, back, left, front into the mix.  This must be some sort of cruel joke!  Well, the joke is on them as I took my number from 10 round trips to 12 round trips today.

Fantastic! (yes, that’s sarcastic, VERY sarcastic) Let’s keep the INSANITY (or stupidity) going with Suicide Jumps… are you kidding me? I mean, I knew it was coming, but it’s still a shock when the time actually comes, right?  Well, I had to push through some serious mental barriers on this one.  My number to beat from last time was 18… I got 20.

Push-Up Jacks – alright, I get to lay on the floor for the rest of the test!  Gotta look on the bright side, right?  I’ve never been good at push-ups.  Might have something to do with the fact that I’ve always been a bit “husky” ;-)   The number to beat from last time was 24 and I just barely got 26.  I might have to call it 25 because I don’t really know if I used my knees or not on the last one.  It was kind of a blur at that point.

Finally, the last exercise of the Insanity Fit Test, Low Plank Obliques.  Gotta tell you, I’m not a big fan of these either!  I still don’t know how to count them.  It is 1 for each time you move your knees or is it 1 for each time you do both sides?  I count as the later so it’s 1,1,2,2,3,3 etc…  My number to beat from last time was 20 on each side.  Today I got up to 23 on each side and then collapsed into a pile of sloppy sweat on the floor…

I know that I should have done better on these numbers and I really expected to, but I had a pretty poor weekend of nutrition and I just didn’t feel the energy that I wanted to this morning.  Oh well, if I had done really well on the test I would have been happier now, but would have really had to work to beat those numbers in 2 weeks, right?  Way to set the bar low for myself ;-)

Oh yeah, I was supposed to do my first day of Max Interval Cardio today too!  Yeah, we’re going to have to get a meal or two into my body before I even consider attempting that this afternoon or evening!

If you’ve read all the way to this point, I appreciate it!  Now do me a huge favor and leave me a comment down below… it’ll make me feel special ;-)
